Cable Ladders and Trays

The TRUGRID™ Cable Support System was designed and manufactured to eliminate the endless problems faced by plant engineers using conventional cable support system made from galvanized steel, aluminum or thermoplastics.

Applications

These FRP cable ladders and trays are for the support of power cables and instrumentation wires in power plants, oil refineries, oil platforms, ships, and pulp and paper mills, where corrosion is a problem to traditional cable management systems.

1. Chemical and Corrosion Resistance

TRUGRID™ Cable Support System is made from a selection of premium resin reinforced with glass fibers to form a strong composite, which is resistant to most chemicals and Ultra Violet. TRUGRID™ Cable Support System resists acids, salts, alkalis and a wide range of aggressive chemicals and solvents. This property is not superficial, as in coated steel but integrated throughout the components used. Corrosion often initiates from scratches, which are caused while cables are being installed in conventional support systems. However, this is not a problem with the use of the TRUGRID™ System. Cable trays and Ladders are also available in fire retardant grade.

2. Strength to Weight Ratio

TRUGRID™ Cable Support System is fabricated from components derived from a process called PULTRUSION. This process enables a high percentage of glass to be incorporated into the components giving it superior strength. The strength of TRUGRID™ Cable Support System in relation to its weight exceeds the performance of those of steel or aluminum.

3. Ease of Installation

The weight of the pultruded components used is approximately one quarter the weight of steel or two thirds of aluminum. Unlike stainless steel, pultruded components are easier to handle and can be drilled or cut on site using hand tools. Lower installation cost would contribute to substantial savings.

4. Non Conductive

TRUGRID™ Cable Support System does not conduct electricity and therefore would not pose any hazards of electrical shocks. As it is non-conductive, electrolytic corrosion associated with metal supports would not be a problem.

TRUGRID™ Cable Ladders are designed to comply with NEMA FG 1 Standard, which is an well-accepted standard for fiberglass cable support system. Cable Ladders are available in standard straight lengths of 3 meters and in resin selection of Isophthalic Polyester (ISO) and Isophthalic Polyester Flame Retardant grade (ISO-FR). Vinylester grade is also available on request.
